Adaptations to sperm competition are diverse, ranging from increased investment in ejaculates and optimal sperm allocation strategies, to behaviour such as repeated copulations and mate guarding. This symposium will explore recent advances in the study of sperm competition across diverse animal groups, combining mechanistic and evolutionary approaches to the study of post-copulatory sexual selection. Contributions are invited across a wide range of topics to include: studies of sperm competition, multiple mating and sexual selection in natural populations; experimental and comparative investigations of gamete morphology, ejaculate characteristics, reproductive anatomy and behaviour; exploration of female influences on fertilization outcomes, and sexual conflict resulting from adaptations to sperm competition. The maximum length for submitted abstracts is 400 words. Excursion (7 - 9th August) We have arranged an excursion for 2 days after the symposium as below. Otaru sightseeing, hot spring, volcano, crater lake and a visit to a historical village showing the houses around 200 years ago (Edo Period)（ 2nights 3days）: \\\\45, 000 (minimum 5 people) You will first visit several sightseeing spots of Otaru city in the afternoon of 7th August. Otaru is famous as one of the oldest town in Hokkaido. On 8th August, you will visit an active volcano and enjoy hot springs. On 9th August, you will enjoy a visit to Edo amusement park where you can see old Japanese lifestyles around 150 -400 years ago when Samurai were common. After visiting Edo amusement park, you will come back to New Chitose International Airport (arrival to airport will be around 11:30am). The payment includes Hotel fee for 2 nights, 5 meals, transportation (bus) and bus guide fees.
